With 12.7 million tonnes of plastic waste per year entering our oceans, a creative solution was required to address this problem. This problem is becoming extremely worse, with plastic having been known to have entered the human food chain. A emphasis on companies reducing their plastic footprint was essential, whilst highlighting the fact that it’s not too late to take action.
Plastic Bags Unbranded is the proposed removal of branding from carrier bags used in retail. A universal carrier bag was created to allow retailers to get behind the cause and pledge their support. The removal of their branding serves as the removal of their endorsement for plastic carrier bags. It is their commitment towards helping reduce plastic waste. It helps with company image, whereby they are seen to be doing good. A long-term solution would see plastic bag usage reduced to a point that would render this brand unneeded.
